CWE provided groundwater sampling and reporting services to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 7. This project included sampling at up to 7 vaults along the I-10 at Fairplex Avenue and two treatment trains servicing 21 wells along the I-105 at Garfield Avenue.
CWE provided significant cost savings for Caltrans District 7. CWE demonstrated through confirmation laboratory analysis that a reported exceedance was caused by sampling artifacts from particulates underneath a manhole lid, thus avoiding potential enforcement-associated costs. CWE also scheduled the board-requested accelerated monitoring to coincide with previously-planned sampling events. This eliminated unnecessary problematic analyte data from laboratory reports. CWE was able to reduce monitoring frequency by demonstrating that unexpected, rarely-detected analytes could be shifted from monthly to quarterly monitoring to reduce monitoring costs.
